Adrien : Relationships

Adrien always wanted to protect Cassius from their mother's narcissism, but had to move away from their family home to protect her own sanity. She's happy that Cassius has become his own person and didn't let their mother influence his sense of self and walk all over him. She supports him whenever she can but tries to keep her distance to prevent herself from inadvertently hurting him the way she hurts others.

Cassius admires Adrien's ambitiousness and determination. While Adrien received most of their mother's attention, Cassius has no ill will towards his sister, understanding that their circumstances are different. He is acutely aware of how manipulative and abusive Adrien can be at times, wishing she would seek therapy, but also rationalizes that it stems from her upbringing and sometimes is too excusing of her actions. He feels guilty about not being much of any help to her health as her savior sibling, and ultimately wishes they were closer.

Adrien was more or less having an existential crisis when she met Dominique. The two met in a bar after Dominique had recently gotten out of a bad relationship. After getting to know one another, Adrien learned that Dominique's living situation was unstable, so Adrien offered to let her stay with her and Angel, who were currently dating. Adrien, who was overly interested in Dominique (and her vunerability), suggested to Angel that they open their relationship to Dominique and add her in as a third partner. Despite Angel's hesitancy, Adrien proceeded with inviting Dominique into their relationship. Angel later broke up with both Dominique and Adrien as he was unhappy in the relationship. Dominique was quick to catch on to how manipulative Adrien was towards her and Angel. When Dominique eventually confronts Adrien about her behavior, Adrien finally reveals to Dominique that she has a terminal illness, and that they should break up because of it, not wanting to waste any more of Dominique's time. Adrien respects Dominique's no-nonsense attitude, and regrets the way she treated her, and even makes an effort to apologize to her down the line.

It wasn't until later that she realized how much Adrien hides from her and how manipulative Adrien was towards both her and Angel. When Dominique eventually confronts Adrien about all of her wrongdoings, Adrien finally reveals to Dominique that she has a terminal illness, and that they should break up because of it, telling her that she doesn't want to waste any more of her time. Dominique was blindsided, but later on is glad that she was able to leave that situation, and pities Adrien as a tragic hero after her death.

Adrien doesn't know much about Roman, only that he's Dominique's new toy. When Adrien visits town after being absent for a couple of years, she wants to catch up with Dominique, but finds that Roman isn't too keen on the idea. Adrien wishes Roman the best of luck with Dominique, and hopes that he takes better care of her than she did.

Roman doesn't know much about Adrien other than her being Dominique's ex-girlfriend. This obviously sparks concern from Roman in the beginning.

Adrien and Angel have been friends since childhood, having initially met in their adolescent ballet classes. The two almost never got along when paired together during practices, but they eventually grew to like each other as time progressed. They dated without problem through their teenage years, but in early adulthood as Adrien's health started to deteriorate, their relationship took a turn. Adrien's fear of burdening Angel caused her to mistreat him in an attempt to push him away, and it was around this time when she accidentally caused his career-ending injury. Despite that, Angel stayed with Adrien, understanding that her behavior stemmed from her fear of death, and even accepted Adrien's decision to bring a third person, Dominique, into their relationship. He was not too fond of that open relationship and eventually broke up with Adrien because of it. In Angel's absence, Adrien started to realize how much she had taken Angel's companionship for granted. Eventually, with some soul searching, Adrien learned to appreaciate all of the things Angel had ever done for her. And in her final days, it was Angel who was there for her.
